“A View From The Top"
March in Melbourne is always such a fabulous time......stable warm weather and an abundance of motoring activities.......what more could one want??? Perhaps an Air show would be a nice little time filler while waiting for the "Phillip Island Classic" and the "Australian Grand Prix" to roll around .... how good is that???? Whatever your automotive passion there's surely been something that's tempted you these last few weeks. If you've been out and about, let the editor know so we can all share......it’s impossible to be everywhere so such feedback can only be helpful and instructive for future planning.
"The Black Saturday Remembrance Cruise" was well supported by "Lions Pride" .......it was heartening to see so many new members participating in the event Debbie and Trevor with their lovely original LJ Torana joined us on the road for the first time and were most welcome indeed. Several members were unable to attend as the memories of that period are still too raw......I feel for you and all those who suffered loss during that terrible time.
Those of you who didn't attend the Show N Shine at Autobarn, Narre Warren, missed out on a superb evening.......this well run event was a credit to Gavin and his team. Our Club display of 12 vehicles was most impressive and a constant source of interest..... members cars were all identified by our Club number plates which certainly added to the professionalism of our display. I enjoyed chatting with Dan Bowden whose enthusiasm and knowledge for all things automotive was simply boundless......... it’s no wonder that their products are so good.........he just lives and breathes automobiles....especially ones with lots of grunt. There is the possibility of his attendance at our March MGM, but if that's not to be, he will catch up with us at Phillip Island, so make the most of that opportunity to say G’day .
Some members of the Milsome family will also attend our March MGM......as you are aware they have supported us since the very beginning, back in 1991, when we were known as the "Pre 68 Holden Car Club". Jackson, who is just 10 years old, is once again keen to participate in the "Leukaemia Foundations Worlds Greatest Shave" ......he is seeking our support and is prepared to answer any questions you may have. The Leukaemia Foundation does not receive any direct government support. They have raised $138 million over the last 14 years.....this amount has been used for research and to provide support and assistance to those in need. Elsewhere in this newsletter you will find further information.......I think it’s appropriate that "Lions Pride" supports Jackson in his brave endeavour to raise funds for this most worthy cause.
As you are no doubt aware our MGM's are quite busy and there is a fair bit of business that the committee needs to get through. I ask you all to remember that the formal part of the evening starts promptly at 20.00 and is usually finished within the hour. In order allow sufficient time for a guest speaker it’s imperative that business is conducted in an efficient manner as possible........I thank you all in advance for your cooperation. Looking forward to seeing you at San Remo on the 9th and 10th at 07.30am for what will be another fabulous weekend of pure automotive indulgence.
Until Next Time,
