I hope that this June edition
finds you well and managing to keep warm. The coming of winter signals a
quieter period in the world of the motoring enthusiast. However, the last
few weeks have seen a strong presence of Club members at various events
throughout the state....I always take great pride in knowing that the Club
banner is on display and that members are out and about enjoying their
Holden's. At a time when the local industry is under so much pressure its
crucial that our heritage is on display and also on the road!!!
At the May MGM we were once again
fortunate to welcome John Fenner as our guest speaker. As Holden
enthusiasts it's a privilege to speak with people who have spent their
working lives within the Holden family. John started at GM-H as a 16 year
old and went on to qualify as an engineer ....he spent most of his time at
Fishermans Bend before moving across to Dandenong as Plant
manager.......he was at Dandenong until the factory was eventually closed
for the second and final time......a most historic period indeed! John is
an automotive enthusiast who enjoys his Land Rovers and is an active
member of the Jaguar Club and is currently restoring a XK120, he is often
to be seen at events that we support and is always up for a chat. John has
been kind enough to donate several items to the Club and, while I
appreciate his generosity, it's his time which I value most. "Lions Pride"
is most fortunate to have an association with both John and Leo who give
freely of their time and just love to talk cars.
As recently advised the Club's AGM
will be held at the "Mulgrave Community Centre" on Sat. 13th. July,
besides a committee election there will be an auction that has
traditionally been our annual fundraiser. Any automotive memorabilia or
objects of interest which you could donate or put a reserve on would be
most greatly appreciated. This event is always a great night so make sure
you get along dressed as a pirate and get into the spirit of the occasion.
I ask all of you to keep this night free as your vote is important in
choosing the new committee. Four members of the current committee will not
be standing for reelection .......it's a time of great change for "Lions
Pride" and I ask all you to consider helping this great Club by nominating
for a position.......its your time to finally DO SOMETHING about the
Until Next Time,
